Thanksgiving drive

I was thinking about the long drive and wanted to do something to make the trip better. I made Todd the space neck pillow and was so excited that it fits him perfectly. I found the pattern from here. Since the neck pillow ended up being sooo simple and yet so helpful I decided to make one for his friend, Peter, for Christmas.

For Kate I made a car seat cover. This is what I started with:

This is what I ended up with:

I finished the edges by hand and, also, added the elastic onto it by hand. I am really loving how sophisticated girly this is looking right now.

Konnor's Quilt

I finished it Saturday night!

I quilted it by machine just outlining the blocks of fabric.

I was relieved to find out that the quilting didn't mess up the sweet look of the backing.

For the edging I just folded the backing over and did a simple straight stitch.

It's nice to have done with Liz's little Konner not due until the end of January.

Eliana's Baby Blanket

So, I realized the other day that I had posted this quilt on my craft blog and not this one. Whoops. I did this a couple of months back for my friend Sunshine in Hawaii. She is one of the girliest girls I know and she is expecting a girly. Her daughter is going to be named Eliana and is due on Christmas Day.

So... here are the photos:

I had seen this quilt and really wanted to do a baby-sized version. I really like the idea of a sophisticated baby blanket.

I used embroidery floss to quilt the blanket.

One done and another started...

I finally finished this Circle Quilt. It is all wrapped in a HUGE gift bag and ready to be handed off at Thanksgiving. It feels so good to be done. But now I am in love with it and almost just want to buy them a book or two and keep the quilt for myself.

And now:

Baby Shower for Liz

The quilt for baby Konner is not done yet, so I made all of these this past week.

A nursing cover out of some of the new Amy Butler line, Love.

A diaper clutch (taggie toy in the back) to hold a travel size wipes and a diaper or two.

The taggie toy with two felt animals, turtle & goldfish. The taggie blankie has a blue minky fabric on the back.

3 fabric chunky blocks

A stuffed elephant... that I finished on the way to the baby shower.

Craft Hope Quilt Finished!

I finished the quilt just in time to mail it off to get it to them by the deadline. *hooray*

I especially love these sprockets.

This is a close-up of the appliqued material.

Ready to go to a homeless boy from our house with love.

Pirate Shirt

I know that it is way past Halloween, but I am just glad to have this post up before Thanksgiving. I took a HUGE white men's button down shirt and cut it up and constructed this pirate shirt. It was surprisingly easy.

The back of the shirt. I love the gathered part.

What I did last night...

I did this quilt top for the quilt top that I'm doing for Craft Hope's current project.

My friend Emilie gave me this fun boy material from Cosmo Cricket. I'm loving it... the robots, sprockets, and the jetson's looking space car.

The yellow is a sheet that I picked up at a thrift store and then I just sewed right on top the different square pieces of material.

Now I have to finish it up quickly and mail it to them by the 15th!

fun

Another green w/ white polka dots tie (the first one got lost).

A space tie from the material that Todd picked out himself.

I found a feed bag at the flea market for $1 awhile back and just turned it into a bag... so now I have a feed bag... bag. I LOVE it. It is just such fun.

My Break...

I finished appliqueing the circles onto the current quilt I'm working on and needed a break. So... for a break I had fun making a tutu for Kate.

Just ignore the messy house and her diaper sticking out. I took some black satin ribbon and folded it over the edges to cover the chopped up tulle edges. I am loving it!

Also, I only had some white elastic, and did not want to go anywhere today, so I found a black laundry marker and colored the white elastic band.
