Cushion

This rocking chair was also a thrift store find a few years ago. It was just wood with no paint, but it wasn't one of those pretty wood chairs either. So I painted it purple in honor of Kate, around the same time that I painted our dining room table & chairs and Todd's bedroom set black.

It had been needing a cushion badly for a little color contrast. I had made one a long time ago but it didn't turn out how I had been hoping and it was scrapped. I made this cushion the other day and am loving it!

It is made from Sandlewood from Amy Butler's line Love. {It's the same fabric that I used for the binding on Alice's quilt.} I just sewed 2 square pieces of fabric together, except for the 3 - 4 inch hole for stuffing. I threw a few hand stitched spots on it before I stuffed it to give it that 'plumpy' look.

I just cut a couple of strips of the fabric. Sewed them in 1/2 lengthwise. Turned them inside out. Tied them onto the chair where I wanted them. Then hand stitched them onto the cushion.

I might have taken the round-about way of adding the ties but I got the look that I was going for, so no complaints here!
